The Dreamcatchers' Way of Life PDF Print E-mail
Dreamcatchers Foundation works as an incubator for developing and nurturing Life Guidance Programs. These innovative programs provide transformative experiences for young people between the age of 8-30 years.

Responding to the emotional needs of young people growing up with ruptures in their life stories, is as important as responding to their material, economic and nutritional needs. Dreamcatchers builds programs that provide new starting points for the long term recovery and rehabilitation of young people in such circumstances.

Our work with young people begins when they find themselves facing cross-roads in their lives. Starting with their emotional and spiritual needs, we build programs that take them into a journey of self discovery and healing. Bringing together art, movement, visualization and reflective theatre, our programs create a safe, non-judmental space for these young people. Here they are able to have life-defining conversations with themselves and are initiated into the journey towards their inner creative self - the source of peace and inspiration and action.

Every piece of work at Dreamcatchers has evolved to embody the realization that no matter what has transpired in young people’s lives, they can dream again, that it is within their capacity to build and create once more, and that all the resources required lie within them.

As a natural genesis, we are also creating a new field of practice for all the stakeholders in young people’s lives – parents, teachers, educators, youth workers, facilitators, mentors. Our programs build leadership within families, organisations, communities, practioners, and teaches them to co-create and lead the Dreamcatcher’s transformative work. Together with NGO’s and CBO’s, this national grassroots network of practitioners – called the Dreamweavers Network - is taking the heart of our work into the field and working with young people focused on walking through change.
