Dreamcatchers advocates that young people lead intergenerational programs within their communities to enable a reweaving of community life that enables the needs, questions and images of the future that absorb young people to find its rightful place in community life. Such programs have the ability to create a common ground in communities; where sustainable visions of the future can come into expression and energy can be galvanized to bring it into reality. Introducing intentional youth led inter-generational spaces in community life in India is a recent idea. Dreamcatchers offers community based practitioners six thresholds of perspective and leadership building that take a community organization through a step by step process for introducing, developing, implementing and sustaining such a program. These thresholds focus on: - Exploring their community and understanding the opportunity in their community for a youth led intiatives for a multi-generational dialogue
- Establishing a core group of young people and adults who are diverse stakeholders in the lives of young people and developing the perspective and leadership to host inter-genrational dialogues
- Convening opportunities for community celebration where the elders are honored and their contributions recognized
- Exploring the role of art, history, culture and environment in bringing together the diverse range of generations in the community and developing initiatives to enable it
- Discovering areas for combined action that will impact the community positively
- Expanding the leadership group as one looks at sustaining the multi-genrational community space.
